International Women's Day

CARE Canada's Book Club

CARE Canada Book Club – now LIVE!

In celebration of International Women’s Day CARE Canada has launched its online book club with its first feature book ‘Half the Sky’. Book lovers across Canada now have the chance to interact, discuss and explore some of the daily issues faced by women globally. SIGN UP HERE TODAY!

A book club with a twist, each feature book will be accompanied by the unique perspectives of CARE staff who work in the field. Our first discussion will feature Teresa Chiesa, CARE Canada’s Programme Manager for Africa and healthcare specialist. With more than eight years’ experience working as an aid worker in Africa and four years as a women’s health specialist, Teresa has a wealth of experiences to share on the issues raised by this thought provoking book.

Join Teresa for a lively debate on Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. Find out why Teresa feels this is a telling tale of the lives of women and girls in Africa and Asia. Give us your personal perspective on this powerful book. And learn more about CARE’s experience of working with women and girls around the world.

Purchase your copy of ‘Half the Sky’ today from CARE Canada’s Amazon Book Page. Proceeds from each sale will be donated to CARE to help fight poverty and empower women and girls around the world!

SIGN UP TODAY TO JOIN THE DEBATE! Post comments and interact with the virtual community within minutes! Virtual doors will be opened throughout the month of March for ‘Half the Sky’, so don’t delay.
