Canadian Partners

Canadian International Development Agency The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is CARE Canada’s most important institutional partner. Working together for almost 30 years, CARE and CIDA have worked on a wide-range of projects and programs around the world. We currently work with a number of CIDA Branches, including:

CIDA International Humanitarian Assistance
CARE is working with CIDA’s International Humanitarian Assistance Program to bring humanitarian and emergency assistance to the people of Haiti.

CIDA Afghanistan and Pakistan Task Force
As part of CIDA’s Afghanistan and Pakistan Task Force, CARE is providing humanitarian and emergency relief in Afghanistan.

CIDA Bilateral Program
With the support of CIDA’s Geographic Programs Branch, CARE is working in areas including food security, economic development, environment and natural resource management in countries such as Cuba, Haiti and Peru.

CIDA Humanitarian Assistance Program (CIDA – HAPS)
CARE is partnering with CIDA on humanitarian and emergency assistance in countries including, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Chad.

CIDA Partnership Branch
CARE is working with CIDA’s Partnership Branch in the areas of environment, natural resource management, health, HIV and enterprise development in multiple countries, including Rwanda, Lesotho, Mali and Zambia.

	Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade CARE and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) are working together on humanitarian and emergency assistance in countries such as Chad.
	Export Development Canada CARE and Export Development Canada work together on Enterprise Development Projects.
	Lundin for Africa Foundation Lundin for Africa (LFA) is the philanthropic arm of the Lundin Group of Companies. CARE is partnering with the Lundin Foundation on an enterprise development project in Lesotho.
	World University Service of Canada World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is a development agency with a focus on education. CARE is partnering with WUSC in Afghanistan on an enterprise development project.

Global Partners

Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA)
Care works with DANIDA through a bilateral program with the Canadian International Development Agency to address Environment and Natural Resource Management needs in Nicaragua.

Global Fund
The Global Fund is a partnership and international financing institution that works to increase funding for the prevention and treatment of HIV and AIDS, TB and malaria. CARE works with the Global Fund on Health and HIV in Kenya.

Irish Aid
Irish Aid, the Government of Ireland’s assistance program for developing countries, works with CARE in the areas of Environment and Natural Resource Management in Zambia.

Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA)
SIDA is Sweden’s government agency that provides funding for international development cooperation. CARE works with SIDA in Zimbabwe on projects that involve enterprise development. 

UNICEF
CARE and UNICEF work together in the area of humanitarian and emergency assistance in countries that include Chad, Indonesia and Zimbabwe.

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
CARE is one of the UNHCR’s largest partners, working particularly in Kenya and Chad to provide humanitarian and emergency relief to refugees fleeing Somalia and Sudan.

World Bank
CARE works with the World Bank in Indonesia in the area of Environment and Natural Resource Management.

World Food Programme (WFP)
CARE is the World Food Programme’s second largest partner, partnering in countries such as Kenya and Zimbabwe to prevent and address hunger.
